The Wyre Forest Stinger Sportives are the first Sportive promotion by North Worcestershire's premier cycling club, Wyre Forest Cycle Racing Club.
Sponsors for the event are yet to be confirmed. We've billed our event as the Family Sportive as we think Stourport-on-Severn is not just a great base for our event but has great attractions for families too. To see whats going on in Stourport-on-Severn, visit www.stourporttown.co.uk. Date/Time The Wyre Forest Stinger Sportive will take place on Sunday 5th July 2009. The STINGER will start between 8.00am & 9.00am, the mini-STINGER between 9.00am & 10.00am and the Family Ride between 10.00am & 11.00am. Headquarters The HQ for the event is Stourport Sports Centre, Kingsway, Stourport-on-Severn, Worcestershire DY13 8BQ. For a map click here Entry Fee The Entry Fees for the STINGER are £20.00 (EOL £25.00), the mini-STINGER rides are £15.00 (EOL £20.00) and the Family Ride is £10.00 (EOL £15.00). A donation from the event will be made to the County Air Ambulance. Routes ** Note the 2009 route has been changed. Directions, Maps & GPS Downloads are now available.  The event will feature 3 routes for riders to tackle.The Family Ride at 28km is aimed at the less fit, fun riders who may have family riding the longer routes but want to have a go themselves. Includes the feed station at Holt Heath. The Mini-Stinger at 113km is not as hard as the full sportive in terms of distance but still represents a challenge to those that undertake it, and includes the notorious Stinger Section. The Stinger is the full 169km route, so called because the early part of the ride is relatively flat but you can expect a real sting in the tail at the end of the ride.
